Can you believe it’s almost December? Neither can we, but the holiday season is in full swing and there’s a ton of fun things to do around Grand Junction. Our team here at Carville’s Auto Mart is going to share a list of holiday parades in the area to get everyone in the spirit. Be sure to stay tuned to our blog for more local events and information.
Friday, December 2 at 5 p.m.
Kick off the holiday season 20 minutes east of Grand Junction in Palisade, CO on Friday, December 2. The night begins with caroling by the Taylor Elementary Serenaders down Main Street to light the tree at the Town Plaza. Hot cocoa, coffee and soup will be available to purchase, and the Parade of Lights will follow at 6 p.m. The festivities don’t stop there. Be sure to come back Saturday morning from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the soup challenge, storytelling, crafts and live music. Details are available here.
Saturday, December 3 from 5 to 7 p.m.
This is the biggest parade of the year here in Grand Junction, so you definitely won’t want to miss it. Last year the parade was awarded “Best of the West for Family Events” by the Daily Sentinel, so we’re sure this year will be equally as impressive. The parade theme is “Christmas on the Silver Screen”, which will highlights tons of popular Christmas movies. Bring the whole family and gather around Main Street to enjoy more than 100 lighted floats and performances. Parking on Main Street is not allowed after 3 p.m. More information is available here.
Saturday, December 10 at 5:30 p.m.
About 20 minutes west of Grand Junction in Fruita you’ll be able to find another holiday parade the weekend after our hometown parade. The Fruita Area Chamber of Commerce and the Grand Valley Power are working together to present the Fruita Parade of Lights. The line-up will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the parade to follow at 5:30 p.m. The theme is “Christmas Past: A 20th Century Celebration”. Participants must pick any decade between 1900 and 1999 and display their interpretation of a Christmas Past. Click here for more information about the parade or how to get involved.
