Two of the big numbers the people look at are the horsepower and torque. These numbers are usually an indicator of how powerful and fast a car is.  They might seem similar or unimportant, but if you need your car or truck to do work then you need to know what these numbers mean. Differences Between Torque and Horsepower

Horsepower is usually thought of to tell you how fast a car is. The higher the horsepower, the faster your car can accelerate. This may be an oversimplified way of looking at it, but it’s good enough for comparison purposes. Torque, on the other hand, is how you can measure the strength of your car.  A truck with a lot of torque can do a lot of heavy lifting.

So, which one is more important? Well, the easiest answer is to say that they are both equally important. You should really ask yourself what you want out of your vehicle. If you’re going for speed, then a high horsepower and low torque car is perfect. If you need towing power, then high torque and low horsepower is what you need. A car that is right in the middle works well for most people.
