What measures can you take to stay safe in winter?

Best Winter Travel Safety Kit Supplies

Here in Western Colorado, we’re fortunate to be located near some of the most picturesque locations in the country. This means that plenty of people will be on the road at all times, but with inclement weather always looming, it also means that there are extra precautions you should take if you ever get stranded on your journey. Today, we invite you to join our Carville’s Auto Mart team in checking out some of the best winter travel safety kit supplies you can keep in your car, so if the unthinkable happens, you’ll be safe, warm, and able to handle whatever comes your way!

Portable Battery Charging Cables

It’s no secret that having a dead battery to deal with is never fun. But it can be even worse when nobody is around to lend a hand when you need to jump your car. Luckily, portable battery packs are available, and they come with their own jumper cables. All you have to do is attach them to your battery and turn them on; you’re sure to get enough juice to be able to head to safety and get help!

Extra Change of Clothes

There are many reasons that you could become stranded on the side of the road, often through no fault of your own. If you need to wait for assistance to arrive, make sure you have a nice pair of warm, dry winter clothes (such as hats, gloves, coats, etc.) in your car to keep you toasty. It can be a bummer, but your ultimate safety and security while being helped is priority number one.

Spare Tires and Plenty of Fluid

We’ve already discussed how to change a flat tire here on our blog; since it’s a pretty easy fix, having a spare tire and jack in your vehicle can be a big help if something were to go wrong. Also, make sure you have washer fluid, coolant, a gallon or so of gas and some oil handy in your car. You never know when you might need to fill your tanks up!

Flashlights and Electronic Chargers

If the problem you’re encountering is one that you can handle by yourself, you’ll need a flashlight to be able to see in the dark. If you rely on your phone for most of the heavy lifting nowadays, it might behoove you to bring some extra chargers along for the ride. Even if a car doesn’t start, there’s a good chance that the battery still does. Better safe than sorry!

  • Staying safe while navigating on the winter thoroughfare can never be straightforward. In fact, taking the winter maintenance quest for granted will never allow the possession to remain in the gilt-edged shape throughout the Jack Frost. Fortunately, certain preparatory measures are there including- installing snow tire, changing oil, replacing spark plug, changing the wiper blades, inspecting battery, topping the battery fluid, transmission fluid, brake fluid etc, taking which a car parent can keep his speed machine safe all along the hog season. Apart from that, the driver must keep all the winter survival items in the trunk of his roadster in order to beat the challenges of an unplanned extremity.

  • I agree that one should keep spare tires in the vehicle which could be very useful during the emergency situations. The condition of different components of the vehicle including spare tire should be inspected properly prior to leaving for a destination during the winter. By conducting, such types of inspection one could identify and repair abnormal components of the vehicle.
