Winter is a stressful time for everybody. It becomes even more stressful when the weather starts getting bad. Snow and ice can cause a lot of unnecessary headaches. The more hazardous the road gets; the more nervous drivers can get.
There are plenty of ways to deal with things when the weather goes bad. Every car has a few different ways you can prep it for winter, but the one thing that most people think of when things get bad is tire chains. These chains can give your car some more grip on the road when conditions are treacherous, but you should be careful. It is not as simple as just throwing the chains on and wishing for the best. We’ll work through some of the laws to know.
Overnight a couple inches of snow fell, what do you do? Some people might just deal with it while others think about putting on the tire chains. Are they required in some places? There are a lot of different factors that play into whether or not it is necessary. If you have snow tires or all-wheel drive and at least an eighth of an inch of tread on your tires, then you are not required to put chains on your tires.
If Colorado uses its passenger vehicle chain laws, then all vehicles are required to be equipped with tire chains. It is not something that happens often, but it is something that you should keep in mind. Tire chains will help you get through the winter with ease, but you are not always required to have them. Just keep an eye on the weather and traction laws to stay safe.
