A lot of people have a checklist of things they need or want in a car. It should have a certain set of features and meet your needs fairly well. Car shopping is never an easy process but being able to find a car that can meet most of your needs is a relief.
If you’re shopping for a used car, then there is usually another checklist in your head that you need to sort through. Used cars can be tricky, but so long as you vet them properly you should be fine. One of the biggest things that people look at is the mileage on a car. A high number seems scary, but is it really?
It’s a given that a car is going to have miles on it if you’re going to a used car dealership. Some people might think that a high number automatically disqualifies a car. It’s not as cut and dry as just looking at the number and knowing if it is good or not. It’s a general rule that a car puts on 10,000 to 15,000 miles in a year. So, a 10-year-old car that has 100,000 to 150,000 miles isn’t out of the ordinary. It all comes down to how well a car is taken care of.
A car with fewer miles, but more drivers and no service record is a bigger risk than a well-maintained car. You should always try to get an accurate history of the car. Regular maintenance helps keep a car running healthily. If a car isn’t regularly serviced, then it’s not going to be in good condition and there might be problems lurking under the surface.
