Some people buy a car for practical reasons, like needing something efficient for their commute. Other people only go for cars that make a statement. They want something that is sleek, stylish, and cool. The ideal car is one that makes other people wish they had it.
Convertibles are one of the more stylish cars out there. Cruising the highway with the top down in the summer is one of the best feelings in the world. Unfortunately, it is the dead of winter now. It doesn’t seem like the right time to buy a convertible. Most people store their convertible in the winter, but you are missing out on a lot of fun.
The first thing to do is to check the condition of your convertible top, especially if it is a soft top. An old soft top with holes or tears will need to be repaired unless you enjoy the snow and cold air in your car. You should also be careful when using a soft top. Cold weather causes the vinyl or fabric to shrink a bit, so if you try to put the top up before letting it defrost, then it will rip.
You want to clear off the top of your car as soon as you can, most convertible tops aren’t rated to handle a lot of weight. Remember to bundle up in the winter as the cold will be rough if you drive with the top down. Be sure to know your limits in the cold to avoid driving fatigued during the winter.
