It’s an often-repeated urban legend that this practice could get you fines or a ticket, but there are some arguments floating around that bare feet can help you get more control over your gas and brake pedals.
In fact, there are some jurisdictions that might actually promote driving with only your bare feet, especially when your alternatives might include heels or bulky footwear that can restrict the range of motion that you have below your ankles. So, all is well if this is the route you want to take, right?

Risks associated with barefoot driving
As with any other form of footwear, it’s always best to use proper caution when you’re operating a vehicle, especially when there are no shoes to speak of in the equation. For instance, if you’re pulled over, barefoot driving can be a catalyst for a “negligent driving” offense, which could easily be avoided. Also, you should always be mindful to conduct yourself behind the wheel in a way that doesn’t prevent harm to others. In other words, it’s totally cool to take off with just some flip-flops on, but stay safe!
