Tips for getting your car out of the snow

If you ever find yourself trapped, it’s essential that you stay calm and controlled as you attempt to break free from the snow. It can happen to anyone, and luckily, there are plenty of preventative measures you can take – we’ve listed them below!

  • Shift between Drive and Reverse while turning your steering wheel and slowly backing up/moving forward. This can help break the snow around your tires and help you gain some traction.
  • If you have a shovel in your vehicle, it’s a good idea to take it out and clear snowy buildups around your tires and in front of your car. If nothing else, this will give you tracks that you can drive through once you’re out.
  • It’s a good idea to keep a supply of kitty litter, sand, or cardboard in your vehicle when you drive in the winter. All of these are rough and can help your tires get a good grip even when they’re on snow.
